The cricket question made me think of this. We live in Fl and have some very large (6-10") Gecko dudes that hang out in my garage and come out at night under the soffits on the wall of the house. These are not any ordinary green anoles. They make the "ack ack" sound. They are kinda of light color with spots. I tried looking for a good picture on line but can't find a good site. I think they may be a Tokay. Any good site with pictures to try and identify?

:) Might be a Tokay, not native but you guys being a major "hub" down there you guys are kind of a nightmare for introduced species. I'll dig up a pic. of my female. I really like them and mine doesn't seem too mean, won't exactly let me touch it though. Might have to listen, if its a male you might hear the call for which they got their name (I'll have to try and dig up a clip of it).

:) Ok sounds and a picture of my female...

And Tokay sounds (http://www.gekkota.com/html/sounds_g__gecko.html). :p I think I'm going to set the male tokay call as my computers start up sound if I remember how.

I really want to get a male for my female but so far I haven't found one big enough. My female is over 14" long and all I can find is little 5" guys and I don't want her to eat him.

dinoman,

The male mating call, about 7 to 8 secs into the recording is what we usually hear. At first we thought it was a big old frog as we have them also. That is for sure the sound. Want me to catch him and mail him to ya? ;) Don't want your female to be lonely.
When we were moving some plywood in the garage I had him right where I could have caught him, He opened his mouth and gave a really loud "ack ack" figured I would just leave him be.:D

Thanks for the info!

:D My female is surprisingly calm, I've never heard a peep out of her. Used to be that when I walked into the room she ran and hid, now I can work in the cage and she'll just sit there until I get too close. For anyone that wants to see I'll take some pics of her cage.

BTW...:p You can keep him and take some pics, I have to do some rearranging on the cage before I want to introduce a new one :D.

:) Here are some pics of my cage, it measures 6ftx30inx24in and she seems to like it. I like big cages, give them as much room to run around. Its really hard to take pictures of this cage because I can't get far enough away, the anole tank sits like 2ft. in front of the Tokay and salt tanks.

Looking down inside the cage from the very top, lots of plants. I really need to do some trimming you can hardly see in it anymore. I got a huge pothos (some of the vines are probably 15ft long!), a money tree, and a rubber plant. Oh and another plant that I have no clue what it is, kinda hidden down on the bottom. Not sure how it gets light down there...

Another shot, it really doesn't show how thick the plants are in there. I'm not quite sure how this picture happened, I KNOW the plants are thicker than that. YOu literally can't see in there through the plants...

You would think I'd never see her, but I actually see her more now than before when the tank was a lot more open. When I go to bed at night she's often sitting on one of the doors.
