I have a 30-gallon that I have been trying to think of something to do with, so far I have had several ideas. Currently I was thinking about somewhat of a lagoon aquarium consisting of Sinularia, Poritis, Heliopora, Tubipora, Caulastea, Trachyphyllia, and Fungia. The aquarium itself is roughly 18" deep. What would be the best lighting option for an aquarium like this? I don't have a hood, just some over-exagerated trim, although buying one wouldn't be out of the question. Right now I was thinking abotu a single 150W HQI metal halide, similar to this

Unfortunatly, I don't think I will be ordering it in time to get that nice discount, but still fairly cheap ;)

That would be more than enough light for that size tank. You wouldn't get too much light on the sides of the tank but thats OK. The corals that you are looking at keeping would be very happy under that 1 halide. I'm not to sure about the odyssea lights they bought out JEBO who made low end POWER COMPACTS (some of which i own). But a 150w halide should be good on that size tank. Good Luck
