Hi, today I dicided to start the process of cooking my live rock. When I took it out of my tank, I noticed that 2-3 pieces had black areas from what I guess is lack of oxygen. So I am thinking that if my live rock had black spots then my sand bed is suffering from a lack of oxgen. So my question is that if I stir my sand bed, will the black spots in the sand kill my damsel? Also will my sand bed ever recover from the lack of oxygen since it's all exposed now? Another thing is will the black spots on the rock mess up the live rock cooking, or since I added more flow will it go away after a while. I have just started cooking my rock about 30 min. ago.

Are you sure the black spots aren't just dead sponges?

They were only on the bottom of 2 rocks that were in the sand.
