i do 12g every 2 weeks. but im lazy too and sometime i forgot so i do 18g a month when ever i miss a water change.

for lazy people like us the best thing to do is to premix a lot of water and have it ready for the next 2 water changes. i just started to do this and it work.

I do 5 gal once a month in my 55. I also run a skimmer and only have a clown and a yellow watchman adding to the bioload.

I think it all depends on your bio load. I kept four small gramma sized fish in my 55 for a year and found that one 10 gallon change a month was fine.

I currently have only one yellow tang in my 55g so I change about 5g every 2 weeks. When my bioload was higher I probably did it more often, but I don't remember clearly. I do remembe that when I went 2 weeks without a water change my tank looked pretty nasty.

I only change 10 gallons every 6-8 weeks on my 58.... but I have a refugium that is growing like crazy and cleaning the water for me.
It depends on your setup, I could probably go 6 months if I wanted to.

I do 10 gallons every 10 days or so. I only have a yellow tang and a clown, but I try to keep my water clean for the SPS....

My bioload is high and I am still in the process of setting up a fuge. With only LR and a skimmer as filtration on my 55, I change 5 gal one week, then 10gal the next, then back to 5gal, etc... This seem to work well for me. I also "re-use" some of this water in my FOWLR tank, so it isn't a total waste of water.

I disagree. a 20% w/c at least once a month is a minimum. Your fuge doesn't take out everything, but it is controlling nitrate levels. The w/c removes many many other negative compounds aside from nitrates. The purpose of testing for NO3 is meant to be a guide for everything else, but it must be taken with good aquarist principles. if you went 6 months without a change your tank would suffer greatly. Your tests may still read at good levels though. Do you test your phosphates and organics?

thanks for all the responses! i would really like to see some pics of the tanks that do water changes as frequent as i plan on tanks simular to mine in size. i was wonering would increasing my water changes add more color to my corals? sorry haha that sounds very noob-ish:D

thanks again
