So here are the skimmers I think might work for my 120gal. They all seem to be about the same class/price. The H&S has a pump so its more exp but I have an extra mag 18.

Help me pick one. The other models by these companies dont seem like they will fit under my stand. I like ASM but the G3 I would want just wont fit.

I am getting a Barr Aquatics so you know what my choice is. My other choice would be the PM. Any of them would work well IMO. If you are willing to spend the $600 for an H&S you might also look at Deltec. You will get more "bang for your buck" out of the beckets IMO but they will also be a little harder to get used to.

Well spending $600.00 was not the plan unless it would get me something way better than the other $300-$400.00 options.

I am kinda thiking about the SK1220 or the MR-2 now. I think the ER is a good option but I think I would get a little more bang for my buck using either the barr aquatic or the mr2 with my new mag 18. They have a higher tank rating than the ER listed above.

I got a really good deal on a mag24 and decided to use it as my return pump instead of my mag 18. So I have a mag 18 just waiting to be used....

your mag is not pressure rated so i wont work well with a mrc skimmer.

The two mags are going to add A LOT of heat to your water unless you run them external. It IS true that a pressure rated pump will drive a becket better but a Mag of that size will also work just not as good:)
For a good inexpensive exernal pressure rated pump I would recommend a GenX PCX55. I think Premium Aquatics has them for ~ $140.

I debated the skimmer issue for several months before going with an H&S. I even had the opportunity to participate in the ER beta test program but after doing extensive research I wen ton and spent the extra $$. Best built skimmers on the market IMHO. The Eheim pumps are what I feel to be one of the great points of these skimmers.:)

Hi guys I have the oppurtunity to buy a used (about 1.5yr) CS8-2
Euroreef for $350.00 shipped. They Go for around $540.00 shipped to my door new.

Should I get for my 120gal tank?? I know I have had alot of good suggestions and if this dont pan out may try something else from above.

Get the ER CS-8-2. The wider width gives you better bubble flow. The needle wheels also will use alot less electricity and and less heat. I would say this is the best bang for the buck. You even beat out an ASM skimmer since you got the ER used.

Anyone else?

Well, slap me for it, but I run a Won Brothers Clean-Up 125 skimmer on my tank, in a secondary dedicated "skimmer sump" that keeps a consistent water level so head pressure on the pump never varies and almost no adjustments are ever necessary. Pulls about a cup of skimmate ever 3-4 days or so on my lightly stocked 155.

I really think a lot of your skimmer's "performance" has to do with outside variables, rather than the skimmer itself (unless it's just junk to begin with).

Almost forgot to mention, they run about $80, pump included (brand new).

I just sent $340.00 for the CS 8-2 ER. Now I just pray he sends it.... lol.

Thanks for the reccomendations everyone. I guess I cant go wrong with the ER. It may not be the best but I've had a bunch of reccomendations for it. Besides its at a good price and the pic makes it look like it is in really good condition.

IMO you made a good choice. Whenever you can find a good skimmer used at a good price jumping on it's not a bad idea;)
