I am planning to replace all three 400 watts PFO metal halide ballast to four HQI 250 watts ballast and pendant with 14K phoenix bulbs, but I did not know which ballast and pendant should I am going to buy between magnetic or electronic ballast. I really need some of your advice which one should I pick for using on my 240 gallons tank (96x24x24). What kind of pendant & Ballast should I go?
All your advices are greatly appreciated.

Tony stick with the Sunlight Supply or PFO pendant an ballast combo systems. Another alernatinve mau be a couple of 48" long Aquamedic Aquaspace lights. They all have been tested and proved to be the best performers of the 250 watt HQI systems (in the order i listed them). Just don't go into this thinking that going from 3 - 400 watt bulbs to 4 - 250 watt bulbs you will be decresing light potential. That will not be the case.

The 250 watt Sunlight Supply's RO III test results are only 7% less than the big bad Luminarc III with a 400 bulb. By adding that fourth bulb you will comletely surpass any advantage that the Luminarc has. I will admit though, If using a 400 watt HQI ballast the results would be different. but then again so would the electricity bill. Bottom line Tony I would recomend a Luminarc reflector only for those with tanks that measure more than 30" from front to back.
