I have a very small patch of bubble algae. I have no fish so i dont add food to the tank. Will the algae spread...and should i be concerned since i have a low nutrient system?
thankyou

Yes you should be concerned. This type of algae can easily grow in a low nutrient system. Even without popping the bubbles yourself, the algae will eventually release it's spores. A few emerald crabs will eat them, and then keep the tank basically free of new growth. It's a viscious cycle though, they pop and eat them, and spores are released so more grow. With a low nutrient tank, the crabs work well because there wont be much other than BA for them to eat.

Your best bet is to siphon the bubbles out. Start a siphon and use the end of the siphon tube/hose to nudge each bubble free from the rock. I was able to do this without popping a bubble, but even if it pops, the siphon should ensure the spores are removed.
