Between pom pom and red sea Xenia?? I always thought they were the same

They look similar... Its mostly the coloration, as far as I know. From what I have seen, the red sea variety generally stays more compact and lighter in color.

I know them as the opposite of the above. :D

Pom Pom Xenia = Xenia umbellata
Red Sea Xenia = Xenia elongata

Not sure about the common names, but the scientific names are correct. Umbellata is the first pick (pinkish lace xenia), and the elongata is the second pic above. The elongata grows much (MUCH!) faster, and is more weed like.

I think the Fiji Pom Pom Xenia is huge and does not pulse much as Red Xeia.

I'm still confused (or people) between the silver tip xenia and elongata xenia. I have seen a lot sil tip xenia, but the elongata (or so-called) doesn't see often. I have hunt for the true Elogata for years but unable to get one. So, anyone has one, please shoot me a pm. I can buy/trade or both

Hmmm, I always thought the second pic was elongata, of which I have a ton in my tank.

Entropy, please excuse me, I'm not telling yours aren't. But the true Elongata is all pink. Yours might have come from different souce.

I've always thought red sea and pom pom are the same and pulsating are the brown ones above and elongata is like this:

I know QHAU used to sell them. May be he can post some old pics. if he still have them. His xenia were long stem and pink.

It is a good idea, but I have no idea where we would put it. There has been some discussion lately about a soft coral forum, but I am not sure if the staff has embraced it yet or not.
