What do you all recommend on the background color of your tank.

I want to go black paint, but the wife wants a light to dark blue paint.

Wife tried to get me to get pink paint. Black shows all the lil stuff.

I think blue is the winner.

A vote for black here.....although it will be covered with purple coraline algae with time.

Can't you do a black to blue fade (bottom to top)? I would experiment on a piece of glass before trying it on your tank, though.

Black, to hide the stuff growing on the back. If it is too light in color it will look dirty and you will need to clean it all the time.

Welp, they say a picture is worth a 1000 words (well I think that's what they say):

I would leave it alone, eventually all will be pink or purple with coraline algae. What is the point? :)

Greg that is so sexy. I have decided to go with like a royal blue or midnight blue.

Posting pics of the eagle in my other post..

Greg,

This is worth showing again. BLACK. Blue does not show depth too well. That's nice Greg.

Intersting view point. So, how do you explain your avatar? JK :P

I've always thought dark blue looked the most realistic. Gho's pictures are beyond awesome, but they just don't remind me of any reef I've ever dove on. Look at SaveOur Reefs avatar. That's what reefs look like. (the stark background, not the corals - awesome tank!)

But, I have black now becasue that's the only color ABS backing comes in (that I get get).

Definately a "to each his own" issue.

Took the words right out of my mouth!
Definitely Black!:D

I have yet to see a blue back ground tank I found to my liking. Maybe because they all use that fake looking sky blue color that you see on many acrylic tanks. Maybe a deep dark blue like Larry mentioned would be nice.

I prefer those cool tapeon reef backings you can buy at your LFS = )

If not that then definitely Black, I like the contrast., but like Larry said its a personal preference thing.

hey gho, what is the id of the orange coral all the way to the left of your tank.. it looks like a big ball of star polyps or something like that..its right next to that big power head....

if anyone else knows then let me know please? it looks awesome..

btw i painted my tank with a dark blue and it turned out light blue when the paint settled...the paint looks dark blue on all other surfaces...anyone else have or had this problem or is it just me?
