I am looking to buy some Xenia for my newly set-up tank. I am looking for both the red sea and/or the large pom pom. I am in the West LA area so please respond only if you are reasonably close. Thanks in advance.

I think you have them backwards name wise. I have both. $5 a stalk unmounted for the first pic, all you can eat for free (unmounted) on the second pic. :D

Red Sea pulse more than Pom Pom

As far as I know they both pulse.

These pictures are from Fragguy's website...as far as I know my labeling is correct...I also checked in Julian Sprungs Coral ID book. The Red Sea Xenia has polyps more like a clove polyp than the Pom Pom.

Yes, they both pulse but Red Sea pulse faster. And according to..... me. You labelled correcrtly. I have Red Sea for years but I don't have Pom Pom. I've seen them.

I have always called them by the opposite. Who knows. That is the problem with giving corals non scientific names. :D

I have both regardless.

Sorry F-18, I am not going to GHO's swap.

No problem F18...I think Frank at Trop. Oasis is taking care of the two Xenia's for me.

Hey Kurt, you can eat all Red Sea xenia in my tank, but the Giant Pom Pom, be careful, that one hard to get b/c it $$$$$ not the normal one you can see it for free from any other reefers.
