I am looking to get a new tank however I want it a certain way, but don't know that proper terminology. Currently I have a glass tank that is eurobraced. I want another eurobraced glass tank as well. But I don't want a tank with the black rim around the top and bottom like a lot of tanks have on them. Id there a specific name for tanks without the black plastic rim around the top and bottom. Any help woould be great

acrylic? You mean the tank...I want a glass tank, just without the plastic black rim around the top and bottom.

They are sometimes called frameless tanks.

Frameless, trimless, Euro style bracing. All of these dont have that plastic rim on them.

They look best with Black silicon IMO

Now what about a floating bottom or whatever they call it, is it worth it. What are the benefits, drawbacks

I don't think the bottom is worth it unless you are going bare bottom. Usually the trim is just hiding an inch of the sandbed anyway. I prefer the peace of mind of a one piece trim along the bottom myself.

euro and trimless are not the same...euro still has a lip of glass going around the perimeter of the tank.

whats a floating bottom?

If it was me who you interprited as saying that then I am sorry because that is not what I ment. I think that a floating bottom is when all four sides are glued on top of the bottom rather than to the sides od the bottom. I could be wrong tho..

That was my take as well. When the bottom is inside the sides. I have never really seen a tank built like that though.
