How do you guys clean out your filter sock? recently I have been just taking them out once a week or so and just spray them down with a water holes under high pressure. However a fellow reefer I spoke to mention that He washes his out with bleach. Is this a good method.? Which other method are out there that works well and are also safe.

Personally, I wash mine in the washing machine with bleach, on the gentle cycle.
I run it through the rinse cycle twice.
And hang to dry.
I don't use them until they are completely dry...takes about a day.
Be sure to turn them inside out so you can pick the larger bits of algae out and any snails that may get into them.

i wash mine in hot water with some bleach and then after it spins I put back in the tank, no ill effects from this method.

You put it in without letting the bleach dissapate?
I advise against this.

I keep mine moist in a 5 gal pal until ready to wash them all which is usually 7-8 at a time. I add 4 gals of water and 1/4 cup of bleach and then let them sit overnight. Put them in the washer with 15 min soak cycle and 2 wash/rinse cycles and they come clean as new and no bleach smell. Hang to dry and good for the next week or two and do it again...

I wash with bleach and double rinse. I have two bags that I switch out but I am going to order 10+ more from filterbag.com so I have plenty on hand.

Take it outside. Spray it with hose right side out. Then turn it inside out and spray it again. Comes clean every time.

Overnight soak in bleach and water.
Then wash it out.
