I just added some Caulerpa paspaliodes that I got from Florida Pets. Many of the leaves are semi white. I keep reading white=bad. Should I leave it or pull it?

Is it white throughout the photoperiod or just after the lights come on in the morning? I seem to remember another member having similar issues with it going semi-transparent or white just after the photoperiod. This macro apparently takes a while to ramp up its chlorophyl to full levels and reappear as bright green a few hours into the day. Some of my seagrasses do this as well.. so maybe there's a point to this strange occurrence.

i just got it, it hasn't been in the tank more than an hour. it does appear that it looks white/transparent, only in the light... outside the tank it looks fairly green.

i'm a total newbie to plants, so i wasn't sure.

transparent/whitish is normally just new growth... But if the tank start to cloud--- then pull it... Here is more info:

Leave it in under decent lighting and it may survive. I wouldn't pull it.

It's fairly tough, it'll send new runners out as the older portion melts. As always, good Alkalinity, Ca++, some NO3, traces.

Want to see it in it's natural home?
Come to Florida for a few days and collect some.
I offer a marine macro algae course each summer in Key Largo.
If you like Fw oplants, there is an eariler FW component which both are fun even even if you are not interested in plants.

i ended up pulling all the leaves off and left the stem/roots... the leaves just didn't appear to be getting better.
