The Blue-Finned Lionfish is apparently a first for Indonesian waters. With the eclectic blue pattern on its pectoral, it is very easy to see how it got its name. thats what I found thus far :)

guys- this is a sperate species,
its a japanese lionfish called parapterois Heteura, AKA blue fin lion fish. Its a large lionfish gets bigger than radiatas/antennatas, but stays smaller than a volitan (about 10"). These are bottom crawling, sand dwelling lions who dig small depression in the sand and hide out to ambush food items- they are quite cool
A bunch showed up recently collected from the phillipines. Its hard to say where they originated, so hopefully they are not truely from jajapense cool- waters. A couple other people report having them, and they seem to be doing okay....well see what happens long term

theres a guy on another site that i go to and a dude there bought 2 of them.they are cool fish and hes got his eating gut loaded shrimp.he said that they're stalking method is really cool.send me an email if you want a link. imgrtful777@aol.com
