Is there a page someone can point me to which tells which snails and hermit crabs are good for getting rid of what (and preferablly which also tells what bad things they do too)?

So many snails, so many things for a cleanup crew to do...which ones to choose?

Thanks,
ST

Well, no such page, AFAIK.

Trochus, Stomatella, and cerith snails have all worked well as algae eaters for me. A few Nassarius vibex will eat leftover food. For very large open sand areas, a fighting conch can be good.

I don't keep hermit crabs anymore. I got tired of their predatory ways. They are funny, though.

A good invert book can help you to pick what you would need. Such as Reef Invertebrates (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0967263034/ref=ase_reeflink/002-3066541-0113635?v=glance&s=books) :)
