I had a plumer set up my pluming for the sump and he used a touch of soap to connect the hosing and i knew nothing about it i have had 90# of live rock in the tank curing it so as i started to fill the tank and get the system running it backed up and soap came into the tank now what will this do to my LR. i have already removed about 40% of the water and im mixing as we speak... will this kill 90# of my LR... my tank size is 120g
thanks in advance
Martin

water changes, water changes, water changes I would also add carbon to the filtration.

that should do it.

With the regular water changes normally done in curing rock you likely will not have a problem. The soap should be gone soon.It is not good but it is not that bad.Better now than later anyway.Good luck.

I would think that the amount of soap used would be minimal. Keep doing the canges and you should have little problem. As Mr. Lloyd says better now than later.... Good luck

ok but it was antibacterial soap... it may have been a touch but wouldnt that affect the LR

I don't really know for sure. You could check in the chemistry forum. I would do a lot of water changes and hope for the best.

With carbon and water changes you still should be ok with it. The level of stuff that they use in antibacterial soap is really minimal. Go with extra water changes and wait a couple of extra weeks to cure your rocks and stabilize your system.

i hope it wasnt anti-bacteria soap.

I can assure you after cutting my figure while curing rock and having to go on IV antibiotics, there are lots of bacteria in live rock that will live through a bit of soap.

Sadly, Most anti-bacterial soap is worthless...call it a temp repellant...it doesn't kill germs, more like it pushes them around. Mans biggest natural predator is something we cant even see, and it's always around us. I agree...carbon for any chem used to make, and water changes to dilute/remove!

Also, have u noticed anything suffer since it happened? Just curious!

featherdusters and other hitchhiters areprobobly dead... id MAKE THE GUY REPLACE THE LR and then just rinse off current stuff in tub for a few days and add it back to tank later. it will be recolonized by the lr u made the plumber buy u ( who knows what else he used in your tank) why would they need soap anyways?

also stop payment to the plumber till everything is solved. i had soap wipe out a 55 gallon fw tank. ( residue from what was on my hands)

Do you have a skimmer? If so put it to use, then do your water
changes, be aware that the skimmer will collect a lot of foam.
