An unidentified coral from a chain store that was mismarked in price (I think) and before they realized it, I bought it. I'ts relatively large, about the size of a melon and it was only $19.00!!
can someone please Identify and give me a hint on water movement, lighting needs, and feeding.
Thanks.http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/513/52222IMG_1913_copy.jpg

Hard to tell from the pic. Can't even tell if it's hard or soft. Looks kind of hard with larger poylps. Is it?

Common leather coral. Very difficult to id exact species, altough it really does not matter. Looks like what is commonlt labeled as a Colt Coral. Good hardy soft coral.

Soft would have been my second guess(since there is only hard and soft, hehe)
You got a great deal there!
You could take a couple cuttings make your money back and still have plenty of coral.

It's what's called Spaghetti Leather.

I don't believe that is a spagheti leather. Probably a finger leather. Too thick for spagheti. I am pretty sure that is Sinularia.

You got lucky this time with a hardy species. Your next impulse buy will probably not fair so well. Do research before you buy. But who isnt guilty of impulse buying at some point...

Definately a Sinularia, finger leather. Theres a few that fall under that catagory to be more specific, medium to high light, low to moderate flow.Definately not a colt, those are pretty distinquishable by there polyp placement. There more shaped like broccoli, while finger leathers will have polyps up and down there main stalk as well.

Check that....Justins right, at first it lookrd like colt but it is a finger leather. Looks like a good price for the size, good luck.
