Hi there,

I ahve decided to look into a refugium for my 90 gallon tank, which also has a 90 gallon sump in the basement. What refugim's are thought to be the good ones? I have noticed many on e-bay, are any of these good units?

Thanks

Jboy,

Just put some baffles into your sump and you've got yourself a refugium. No need to pay for expensive and small=worthless refugiums off of ebay.

Peace,
John H.

Thanks for the post. Interesting idea. I'm assuming by baffles you mean seperate containers where water flow would be less and I would place in the miracle mud and such? What about the lighting then? Any problem with lighting the whole sump? If the refugium would be in the sump, what about CPR's or PM's drop in models?

Thanks again

Jboy929,

Check out Melevsreef.com for some great sump ideas. The baffles are basically there to help get rid of micro bubbles. As far as lighing the whole sump, it will not hurt but it is not needed. Just light up your fuge.
