i have a acan lord "mini-colony" for sale, i've counted roughly ~15-17 polyps, with new babies forming at the edges. this has been in captivity for a while and has completely overgrown the rock that it was initially mounted on, it has since spread onto the rock and has been growing well ever since. the individual polyps are roughly ~0.5'' in diameter

price is $515 shipped anywhere in the US (professionally packed and shipped via FedEx priority overnight + heatpack + insulated box). this breaks down to ~$30 per polyp, including shipping! local pick-up is also available in the San Diego/Los Angeles... price for local pick-up around 909/626/858/619 area code is $475.

im lowering the price to:
$485 shipped anywhere in the US
$435 picked up in SoCal

for ~17 polyps...!!! that breaks down to ~$28 per polyp if shipped and ~$25 per polyp if picked up!

you really can't get a colony of ~17 polyps for acan lord for this cheap... thanks for looking, for those interested, please e-mail me @ d18lee@ucsd.edu

no problem waterfaller1... i honestly wish i could cut this up into smaller pieces, but the frag is hard to work with due to its size... maybe you have a few friends that might be interested in splitting it with you?? :)

yea, this is as low as i can afford to let it go as... after dropping the price 2 times already (down from the original $515 to $450 shipped to YOUR front door!!), i hope it will interest some people.

remember, this is for ~17 healthy polyps of Acanthastrea Lordhowensis for $450! i'm surprised it's still here...

here's an updated pic taken a few days ago.... you can judge the coloration better in this picture as opposed to the blurry one above. pic was taken under 150w 20K DE MH for reference. if you look closely you can see babies forming along the edges too :)

*when seen from above you can't see all polyps, the side pictures in the 1st post kinda show the polyps on the side better.

...a few inquiries but nothing certain yet.

this coral is still available! :)

on another note, i received an e-mail about the pictures, i do not currently run actinics with my lighting set-up... and as mentioned a few times above, this coral is under 20K halides, which is the result for the "bluish tinge" in some of the pix. keep in mind that last picture (the post above) is the most accurate color depiction.

What maintenance is involved with keeping this specimen? I may be interested in buying 7-8 polyps if you could frag it. Thanks.

Are metal halides a necessity for keeping this coral?

MH lighting is not necessary for acan lords. they are relatively hardy corals.

PC will suffice, MH is definitely not required... the requirements of this coral are the same as any other LPS (favia/brain/blasto)... occasional feedings will also help them grow healthily

unfortunately i am not going to frag it... i am looking to sell this coral as is. this piece is only 2.0'' x 2.0'' (roughly), so fragging can be quite a challenge especially when the polyps are around the size of M&Ms.

Are you sure you dont want to frag it? I'll take a single baby polyp. Im only going to use it for "donor"ing and I will be more than happy to frag back a piece

uchiha
04/20/2005, 09:10 PM
haha, ok, 951 can be included :)

Travis, sorry i am not going to frag this coral... honestly, if i could, i would... but it's difficult b/c the coral is small and hard to "precisely cut"

an update on this piece: it is currently spoken for AND paid for ... so you can consider it "SOLD"

thanks for all those who were interested, stay tuned for future listings :)
