This is my first salt-water tank and I really wanted some zoos... If I put some over this rock will they be able to grow onto it? What do I need for them to do well?
Does anyone know what rock this is??? Is there rock out there that I really shouldn't put into my tank?
All I have so far is some LR from gulf-view and some of these on the pics...
thanks for the help!

As long as the rock is on another rock, they should grow over to it. Rock looks fine. As for rock that's fine, most liverock in a store is fine. Most types are florida rock, fiji, tonga, etc. Just keep an eye out for it.

UT OH! you've got the Zoo bug...its almost as bad as the SPS bug! I've yet to find a cure for it hehe.

The do find under PC lighting, you'll need to dose calc & alk. Zoo's will grow on anything including glass so no worries about your rocks.

My post didn't make much sense lol. Must of been tired. As long as the rock is from another established tank or from a fish store you should be fine. Many fine retailers online provide good rock but will spike the tank with ammonia.
