I'm about to upgrade the lighting on my 29G so that I can make it a reef. I want the lighting to be strong enough so that i can have an anemone. I'm going with VHO flourecent lamps because my friends at Lowe's are going to fix me up with everything I need (except the bulbs) for a lot less than what it would cost from any dealer. What I need to know is what combination of bulbs (atinic-blue, atinic-white, aquasun) and how many of each that I need to make my 29G capable of being a good, thriving reef tank.
Much thanks for any imput.

I'd go with a 4 bulb setup. Either 2 actinic and 2 actinic-white or 1 actinic and 3 actinic whites. I find the aqua-suns to be to pink for my eye.

Or you could get a Metal Halide ballast at the local electrical supply for about 40 bucks and buy a halide bulb and be set for keeping anything.

What Lowe's ballast are you getting. I have a 37gal that I'm trying to decide a lighting system for.

A magnetic flourecent ballast, I think it is made by Sylvian (or however you spell it). Lowe's sells them for around $40.
