View Full Version : Escobal and skimmer flow rates?

Randy,

Do you think Escobal,s ( from, Aquatic Systems Engineering: Devices and How They Work) skimmer flow rates are still valid today?

How about his thoughts on it taking a full 2 minutes of contact time to remove some organics?

It seem most skimmers today are going for massive turnover. I'm thinking of going back to a counter current air driven skimmer.

Not sure if this is the right place for this question, if not let me know.

It's only the right place if someone else knows the answer, because I have no idea what Escobal is. :D

IMO, how long it takes for organics to adsorb to an air water interface depends entirely on how much organic material is in the water in the first place, what the organics are, and a variety of other factors.

My understanding of skimming hasn't changed much since I wrote this article years ago:
