for my luck. my favorite acro is the one with the Bug. the rest of them are Bug free wich im happy about that, but still, this thing is crawling my favorite acro!!!!!!!

i now there is a threatment. some pill fro dog but the only way to get it is with a veterinary and a prescription right?

If you have it on one coral you will need to treat your entire tank. These bugs seem to get worse in tanks with less light. They can affect the color of your corals and can eventually kill them. Interceptor can be used to treat these "bugs". It takes three treatments. The medication will affect your snails, crabs, shrimps, etc. I can't find the link to the treatment, but I'll post it soon if someone else doesn't.

yep, you got em. I ordered my interceptor online from a canadian pet medicine place. You do not need to remove all inverts. Things like starfish and such will be fine.

Very nice frag btw.

yes it is my favorite. specially whe the polyps are fully out. they are white. i tought the only way to get Intercepto was by a veterinarian.

probably since its from a site in Canada you do not need an RX. We had some Sebor Absynth imported from the BC a year or so ago and no questions were asked.

If its cheapest online get it there, but if you can get it cheaper at a vet do it that way, just print out the thread about treating it with interceptor and the vet will sell you interceptor no questions asked.

do veterinarian charge for visitin them?

MORAY

Depending on the vet, they might charge you. I know Mr Neutron just ordered some from an online place. Hopefully, he will see this thread, but if not I'll ask him where he ordered his. Many of the online vendors have stopped selling it without a prescription.

Make sure you do all three treatments Kenny and do everything right. You will get an algae bloom if you don't do the water changes as needed. You might get it even with doing the water changes correctly.

Then you need to QT your new frags or you could get RB again.

Where did the frag come from Kenny? Getting rid of those bugs is not fun. Hopefully you can get some interceptor soon and wipe them out!
Good Luck

Oh you dont wanna do that kenny! All of your soft corals will grow a hard skelaton and then after a few doses they turn blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!

& most vets will not charge for a visit...they are not doing anything. Call them first and explain things, see what they say.

Kenny, there is a lot of information posted on red bug and interceptor treatment on the Reef Central SPS keepers forum. Search under red bug, interceptor. The white tablet is for large dogs (red ones I assume) but the dosage must be very accurately weighed. Don't guess or you may lose everything. There are ORCA members who can help weigh the doses.

A quarantine tank has it's benefits when you introduce new livestock.

The red bugs stress the corals, best to treat sooner than later.

Your pictures are great.

So Kenny,

7 of us went to your Hooter's tonight and you weren't there, but all the Hooter's girls I talked with (4 of them) said you were a great guy.

Fallout Faryn wasn't there tonight though. Guess where I got that name?

ok my tank is full of pods, mysis and a lot of live in my sand. will i loose all that.

do i need to treat the whole tank. i mean. i cant take out the LR, sand so i can safe all the live i have in there. im moving everything to another tank so it wont be a porblem doing this. i can use the current 55g to treat the coral with maybe a little bit more than half the water. im thinking about this since it will be easier to guess the water volume in the tank.

Kenny,
Unfortunantely, you will lose all inverts as a result of the treatment. It take at least three solid doses to completely wipeout the redbugs and their eggs with interceptor. If you move live rock to another tank, you risk spreading the red bugs to another system which they can infest. Leave everything in the tank during treatment to ensure a complete application of the interceptor.

It is not true that all inverts will die. Lots of inverts such as starfish, anemonies, clams, etc. do just fine. My shrimp made it through the treatment also, and I hear this is common to happen.
