Hello All,
I received this e-mail from Floridapets.com. Looks interesting but I would suggest we find out what the parameters are regarding discounts (25% off and flat rate shipping). I think we would still need someone to organize this. I wouldn't want to order anything unless I was assured what the price would be. I like that they ship directly to the buyer though. Any thoughts as to going about this?

Bill,
Thank you for suggesting us for a group buy. I would like to give you some info. about our way of handling group buys.
First, we establish a time period for the group buy, like a two week period of time and set the dates.
Then, we offer a particular group an attractive discount, as much as 25% off anything from the site.
Depending on location, we may be able to offer a bit of a shipping discount or flat shipping rate as well.
We take all orders during that time period directly from each group member via e-mail or phone. This means no-one from the group has to keep track of orders or collect any money.
We then confirm each order after the money is received and ship each individuals order to them directly to their door.
This makes the group buy much easier and usually faster.
Take a loook at our site and check out the prices. We have among the lowest prices on the internet and we also carry a few items you wont find anywhere else. Some of our exclusive items include; the lg. Feather Caulerpa, the turban snails(true turbo), Virgin Nerite snails and and our portion o'pods.
We thank you again for suggesting us for your group buy. We hope you will pass along our method to your group. We hope to hear from you again soon.
John

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I might be interested in that depending on the dates.

I find it hard to believe that shipping to each individual is a bargain, as compared shipping 5 orders(say 1 box) to one address. Overnight for 4lbs isn't much different than 10lbs. I could be wrong.

I don't order live stock online because shipping is so expensive.

That seems very strange to me also, but very convienient. It's a group order without the group.

I'm probably going to wait a while to order stuff, planning on a new tank in the next couple months. I'll be buying lots of snails.

If you look at the first post, I think someone only needs to contact Florida Pets and say, hey there is NJ group buy. They tell us the dates and were done. I would still like more info on the shipping.

I'm sure we need to know prior to placing an order that we have enough interest to qualify for the maximum discount and flat rate shipping charges.

Not sure how much money your saving (hopefully lots), I got my clean-up crew from Reef Encounters in Hackensack, NJ. Very happy. They have package deals. Dont remember how much I paid.

Ortho bill : did they give you any idea on how many items will fit in 10lbs. Seems to me 25 nassa snails shipped moist won't be 10lbs. Might be a good idea to find out and see if anyone can order together. The 25% is really a good deal.

did anybody order yet?

I'm going to order tomorrow or monday. I am going to order a small algae control crew. If someone else who has a small order and lives close would like to combine and split shipping thatd be cool.

I'm not too far from NB, and am interested in the Sm. Macro Booster package #072.01. Let me know if you want to split the shipping.

Hey Phyl,

I need some things too, want to place a order together. I need a cleanup crew, BAD! We can split the shipping cost and decide where we want it delivered. I live in Howell, which isn't that far from EB, I guess.

Let me know
