Will these type of bulbs be adequate for marine macro algae growth? The bulbs at my local home depot range from 50w to 100w. I actually even have the 50w bulb, however the light intensity from it for my 26g fuge does not seem as high as one of these home depot low energy lights that are 70w rated, but only consume 17w.

I also have a spare pc fixture that has 2 65w bulb. Would 6.5k bulbs be best for a 26g fuge?

Thanks,
~Dj

They have a 65watt PC floodlight from Lights of America that they claim puts out as much light as a 500watt halogen. The whole comparison to halogen bulbs is very misleading, IMO. I had a 2x65watt PC setup over one of my tanks but I never said it was like 1000watts. Watts is not a good measure of light intensity and if you have ever seen a 500 watt halogen, you would agree that it looks a ton brighter than the 65watt PC bulb (mainly because its a point source light).
