So I've read the feeding articles in the SPS forum and am still a little confused. If I feed some sort of phytoplankton (DT, marine snow, etc.), it does not directly feed the SPS, but it feeds microfauna in the tank (rotifiers, etc) that then reproduce at a greater rate and the SPS feed on them?

So what are you guys feeding your SPS and where are you getting it locally?

Only thing I feed my tank is: mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, nori and cyclopeze

I've seen the sps polyps actually grab the cyclopeze. I get it at TRI. The other foods don't directly get consumed by the sps, but I don't know about uptake of the matter it disintigrates into.

The nori is from Wegman's and the two shrimps are from Petco.

yes cyclopeze is the best i get it from aqua oceans or you can get the marine plankton with cyclopeze at tropiquarium

Live phytoplankton culture. I think FastFred started a new culture again.

I thought SPS eat rofiters and stuff that size. You feed the rotifer the phyto, the rotifers are feed to the SPS. The pods also eat the phyto.

SPS polyps may grab the cyclopeeze but its just a reaction to something being in its polyps. If you sit there like i have, for a whileeEEEEE, you'll see they'll just release it. They're polyps are made to consume rotifiers, that said the best way to feed them is to gut fill the rotifiers w/ phytoplankton, hence why im always bugging fast fred for rotifier production :D. Thats what you may have misunderstood.

i just tried a new dt product...oyster eggs. pricey but interesting.
will now be doing some homework on rotifers. HIKURA frozen food
produces a rotifer product that i have been using...
