Hi,
I have heard a rumor that if one lost power, and one suffered losses to the reef, it is possible to recoup the losses from the electric company.

Anyone ever file a claim? If so, did you get any money?

Thanks.

Most electric companies will have a clause in their service agreement that you sign when you get power that exempts them from accidental loss of power. If they intentionally cut you off for reasons other than not paying your bill without notifying you in advance then they could be liable for any damage suffered as a result.

That's my understanding of the situation.

I agree with Nathan, I have seen claims for damaged equipment as the result of power surges caused by faulty transformers, but not for a plain old interruption of service.
