Well after much heart breaking my 100g starphire
dream tank doesn't seem to be happening at this time in
my life for many reasons. The next best alternatives are a 37g or a 55g acrylic tanks. Tank costs are not an issue for both. I live in the 3rd floor of a FL apartment, still a little edgy that a 55g is safe up there but i do think it'd be alright, anyone have thoughts on if it'd be alright or not?
I'm leaning towards the 37g but once again definitely not made up my mind. If so, i'd like to turn over my tank 30x an hour. I will be doing a sump, would u reccomend running all the waterflow through the sump and than pumping it back in to the tank through an OM squirt or keeping the sump and the CL seperate? i think 1200gph is pusing it on the sump but maybe not, sump size will either be 20 or 30 gals. if i did the 30g would it be alright?
I will have to buy all new lighting for it. reccomendations? i was thinking about T5's or 1 MH, i would like to be able to keep everything.
and lastly, what kind of fish and corals would u reccomend for that size of tank? I want to do at least 2 clownfish and a anenome. Are flame angels out of the question? I dont have a problem of returning the fish if it gets too big as long as i can keep him for at least a year. I'd like to have as broad a pick as possible. Suggestions? thanks guys for any help you can provide.

Since money is no problem I would go with a 75 so it wont be so narrow like a 37 or 55. The floor can handle the weight unless your in some 1920's building

forgot to add, the dimensions are 36x15x16, 37.5 gals
Also any pictures of tank's around that size very welcome.
thank you

mm, you really think an apt can handle a 75g?
It's only about 2 years old. I think 55g is as high as i go.
I'll put you down for the 55g vote :)
the 37g isn't narrow but the 55 is the standard dimensions. i was wondering about making a rock wall background out of fiberglass to try and give it the appearance of more depth.

My vote is for a 40 gallon breeder. 36L/16H/18D. AGA's are nontempered glass & easily drilled for overflows. Only wanted to run 1 MH & keep high-light specimens, so this was the only choice for me.. That & the 55g limit in my 2nd floor apt.

I would also go for the 75gal. The floor will hold it with no problems. Its no different then someone having a large tank in there living room with a basement or craw space under it.

im sure people have had hundreds of gallon sytems running in their apt on here.... I dont think it would be any different than having a tank upstairs in you house.

The aquarium size limit is a lease factor, not one of engineering :)

Lots of apartments have waterbed/aquarium restrictions & limits for upper floor units.

midnight bump
i can get around the aprt. restrictions, but 75g
is going to be too big. 55g is the limit for me. thanks
