Are those little silver bubbles??? I can't see well from here. Personally, I'd go get myself an emerald crab and see if he'd eat them--I believe it's a type of bubble algae, but i can't tell. I'm no expert and the pic kinda sucks.

Just a bunch of bubbles that are rising to the top and popping... But hey should dissappear, but they aren't..

How old is the rock and the tank? If it's actually gas bubbles meaning the rise when disturbed, it's probably just nitrogen. The resulting waste of denitrifying bacteria.

so they are normal during a disturbance?

during a disturbance? what do you mean???

Well that is what the previous post said "disturbance"

They are just gasses clinging to the rock/algae. No worries.

The disturbance he was talking about was pretty much, if they rise to the surface when disturbed/brushed. If they don't rise, then they COULD be bubble algae. But I think it is just gas bubbles. You're good.

Is it just me or does it look like those bubbles are resting primarily on a nice, dark sheet of cyanobacteria?!

dymaxiun, do you blow detritus off rocks frequently? If not, these could just be the gas bubbles from the decomposition of the detritus. You should keep your rocks clean to minimise algae growth.

I agree, it looks to me like the bubbles you get with cyano - they won't go away until the cyano does. So I guess that makes them bad bubbles.

agreed - cyanobacter. bet you only see bubbles after you have the lights on for a while - they feed of the light

you need to check your phosphate levels and/or do something to lower the levels. this can get out of hand if you don't do something soon.

Well i woke up this morning, and they are all gone...

Could it be that I accidently surfaced my return pump yesterday, and it blew bubbles for a few seconds?

Well I will try to light thing here later on.. my timer will turn the lights on at 2:00pm so I will give you a better answer with the lights when that time comes around.

There were some on my bare sand that were suspended ther,a nad alos ar all gone...

I'd say cyano also after further information was given. Cyano disappears at night and will reappear while the lights are on.

It isn't just on the spots with red.. it isn't specifically targeted around a certain spot..

How old is the rock? Is it possible you are having some die off and a nasty algae bloom is catching the bubbles? Clean the rock and keep an eye on it.

Rock is 9 days in.... was cured from LFS.. in a tank for a few weeks at least before i got it... But who really knows if they are REALLY telling the truth....

I think it is just cycle algae bloom.. which i dont necessarily want to get rid of just yet.. want to see the tank do it's thing...

Unless someone can give me some solid advice on why i SHOULD get rid of it at this early of a stage....

You are still cycling. (In my opinoin) Please do yourself a favor and be patient. I believe, and have seen, various blooms well into the 6 month stage of a tank. Nature is not going to be rushed.....

Bubbles just dont look good, and i just think it is a bad thing...

I use a magnum 350 and filter clean my system once a month. It gets rid of nusance algae blooms and detrius...

filter clean? You need to help me understand what you do..... Not saying i am going to do it, but just want to know what you are tlking about...
