a fresh water question

hey anyone out there have any freshwater tanks. well my friend is worried sumthin is wrong with her fish the cichlids are all swiming against the current and the algea eater(forgot real name) keeps going up to the surface to get air. she said they never did this before any help would be greatly appreciated

hey whats up man.. whens the last time she did a water change? has she checked her levels etc? could be lack of oxygen etc.. to much crap in the water not enough flow etc.. its hard to say without seeing it.. the pleco (if thats what type it is) can breath air from the surface and will dart up take a gulp of fresh air and dive back down.. :)

if she has cichlids does she have alot of rock structures for them etc.. i used to breed alot of types of freshies.. you can pm me if you would like with any questions..

i did sugest to her to put an air pump in there temporarily to see if that helps. thanks reefer i will ask her some more questions later tongiht about it.
