I have 1 rock that has become totally covered with 'green fuzz'... the fuzz is made up of short stalks that look like they have small forks at the end. After being under light all day the fuzz (stalks) are brilliant green but at night, after the lights have been off for a while, they turn a light brown until the next day when the light cycles start and they become green again.

Is this a form of algae or something else? Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

I took a pic... I couldn't zoom any any further to get a better detail on the stalks.. I guess my camera isn't all that great.

Hi,

You have several types of algae visible in the image as well as other things. Can you use a photo editor program to indicate which items you are asking about?

Thanks. :D

Here is an edited pic with the area outlined and a little bit of detail.

The outlined area of 'green fuzz' consists of individual stalks that are about 1/4" long and split at the ends. During the light cycle the entire mass of fuzz is green, but at night when the lights go out the fuzz turns brown/tan until the light cycle starts back up and they turn green again.

Hi,

I see what you're after, alright, but I can't see enugh detail to identify them. Unless you can get a better set of images, we are out of luck.

You could potentiall send some to me if you wanted. I might be able to work from that.
