hello, i was wondering if there is anyone on here that could help me out? i tried to build my own sump/refugium but it went very wrong so i was wondering if anyone on her could biuld me my sump/refugium for me at low cost cuz i dont have alot of money and already wasted alot trying it myself i just dont have the right tools and experence. i've been telling my son it will be done soon but its not going well and i hate to disappoint him. so if anyone could help please let me know. its not that big of one and looks like melev's 29g sump/refugium. just with different dimenions with the return on the right and refium on left. the size is as followed 22" long x 10" wide x 16" tall for my 29g tank.

here the link to what melevs looks like

Just what problem are you having? Is it leaking or is the return pump not strong enough or is to strong???

Were you trying to make the sump out of acrylic? Like reverai asked, what kinda problems are you having. I finished my sump a little while back and for me the easiest way for me was to get a used glass tank and cut out acrylic baffles and siliconed them in.

i was trying it with acrylic first it leaked them i went to routor the edges and drilled a hole though it

the i tried agian and tried to just line up the edges and i kept moving and dried with over hangs on the side so the next piece wouldnt line up

i cant use a glass tank and add baffles cuz i cant find a tand that is only 10" wide

so if anyone can help or build me 1 cheap ill pay them and for the shipping to my house

thanks again

Get a 5 1/2 galon. Thats what I used for my sump till I made one out of acrylic. You can also go to home depot or lowes. Have them cut the pieces for you, thats what I did. If you go with acrylic you need to use weldon 4, its watery and needs to be applied with a needle applicator. Take a piece and line it with another piece, and with the applicator just sqeze the glue into the seems. Hold like for 5 mins. and do the next. This will let you glue all the pieces together. Once all the pieces are glued, then use weldon 16. Its thicker. What I did was just squeze the tube from the top of a seem and just let it slide about alittle half way and then remove the tube and just let the glue slide. It will seal all seems nicely. It melts the 2 pieces into one. This is the way I did it. Theres other ways so that the glue comes out really nice but its more complicated and you need to use pins and such. This is a sump, what you really want is for it to hold the water and not leak. HTH.
