Manifold pump selection?

Does the manifold pump need to be a presure rated pump. I was tempted by the Dolphin Ampmaster 4700, but documents state a 40% reduction in flow if using a 1" pipe rather than a 1.5".

you can run 1.5" to the top of the tank and then step down as/if needed on the manifold to increase veolocity.

Sequence has some fab looking pumps for the purpose... Japanese Iwakis are long time favs of mine too FWIW
