Anyone have some comparison info on ASM skimmers VS the Euro reefs?

Same design just use different acrylic. Euroreef uses cast acrylic and asm uses extruded I believe. Cast is much more durable in the long run.

If you want a Euroreef style skimmer made out of cast acrylic and about the same price as an ASM then check out the Southbay skimmers at www.exoticfish.com. You can also find info about it here on RC if you search. I run one of these and if i had to start all over again and choose from either a southbay, ASM or euroreef, i'd choose the Southbay. Its the best of both worlds. The price of an ASM w/ the build quality of a Euroreef. :D

If after all this you still prefer the ASM or Euroreef check these threads out:

You'll find over 3 pages worth if you do a search.

MrSandman thanks for the links. I'm planning on buying an ASM G3 for my 125.

I don't see "Southbay" on Jeff's site. I see his own Euro Reef knockoff, but they seem just as pricey as the Euros.

I just looked at Jeff's specials section and saw the 6-1 for 225.00 and i looked on Marine Depot's website and saw the ER 6-1 for 338.00. I'd recommend contacting him if you want other models. FWIW, i've got his CS8-1 on my tank.

BTW the ER RS series skimmers are much more reasonable and priced comparably to the ASM's.

I have a g2 for my 75, and there was no comparison as far as price goes. the ASM was much less expensive than the comparable Euro, same pump, and after all that is the heart of this type of skimmer, works great, my wife will not let me clean the collection cup in the house because the funk that the skimmer pulls not of my tank, there both excellent products, but I have never been into paying extra for a name.

Did you check the price of the RS series EuroReef?

It was discussed in another thread that the RS line of skimmers were only being sold through (brick and mortar) retail stores. No one was offering them online. Anyone have any links to someone that si selling them?
