I am re plumbing my tank..i want ot know if I have to put a gate valve on the intake pipe to the sump..

It's a dual overflow ...I connect the two pipes that drain to the sump in one ..the pipe is 1" and both connect to a 2" T ..do i need to put a gate valve there....

I am using a durso in the overflow..

you don't necessarily have to put a gate valve there, but it would be useful in case you want to shut off the flow of water at that point.

personally i did. but its entirely up to you. depends what you think you might need to do in the future.

Why would you need a valve to restrict the drain? And why use a T? I think flow is smoother if you had two pipes going to the sump.

What type of sump are you using? Is it one of those premade wet/dry's or is it just a standrard fish tank converted to sump?

I had a ball valve on the drain line of my old 55. Never used it so I didn't bother with one when I set up my 110.
