Adding Actinics to VHO's

my tanks a 100G 60inch long with 2 250MH 10k XM's. You think just adding 36 or even 48 inch VHO actinic would be enough or do i really need to get the 60 inchers to go the full length?


Does anyone have a picture of their tank with 20k and 10k or maybe even these new xm 15k or is it 14k?:confused:

You could stagger the shorter lamps, but I would suggest the longer lamps so that you get full coverage.

The new ones are 15,000 K. They've just come out so I doubt you'll get to see many pics for a while.

ya i figured i wouldn't see any pics but it was worth a shot. Ya i think im goen with 48 VHO's

i have another 100Gal and do you think that 175 MH would limit my growth of all corals its the 60 long and i think 18 wide so 20 something high.

175w should ne fine for a 20" deep tank. personally i would go with 250s though. heres a pic of my 75 with dual 250w 20k XMs.

i talked to a guy today about VHO and PC's and he really liked PC's Over VHO's soo i don't know what im going to do now

whats the deal with the PC's making stuff glow at night?

actinics of any type will make your corals "glow" if they have the right pigmentation.

i have/had tanks with PC and VHO. i think the VHO has a better color to it. ive also read that the VHO color is more true to the right color.

For the best color rendition of your animals, VHO actinics are the only way to go. PC "actinics" are usually just blue lamps...not true actinics at all (450-420 nm).
