depends on what youare going to put in the tank. I have a softie tank that is lit with the coralife set up. Does very well.

What are your tank dimmensions?, never-the-less it seems to me like a low light corals fixture like shrooms and buttons stuff like that. If you want freedom I'd go with MH, actually I did go with MH, and I'll never go back to fluor.

Assuming that you are not buying this for the tank mentioned in your signature...What size fixture are you buying, for what size tank, and what do you plan to put in the tank?

I am thinking of the 36" 196 watts for a 46 gallon. Any suggestions on a MH. They are a little confusing. Do I purchase one that will hang from the ceiling and shine in the tank? One little MH with high watts will work hanging above the tank? Any for less than $250 I would probably buy? I would love a recomendation of that I could just plug in and turn on when I receive it. Thanks,

Just check out my "current tanks" I only use one bulb, results...lets just say lighting is no longer on my "things I have to worry about list".
With one bulb I keep my softies that like light under it, and the shrooms and zoo's off to the side. Since your tank is a little smaller it may even work better for you. The whole deal ran me $300 CDN. Or
$240 U.S

I guess I will look at MH pendants for a while. Any suggestions? Maybe 250 watts?
