If I have fish in my tank and I want to increase the salinity safely, How much salt should I increase per day without affecting the fish in the tank? I don't want to do a drastic change and harm the fish. Thanks

Top off with SW at desired new level, instead of fresh...this will raise it in small increments.Be sure to test.

Yeah just use pre-made saltwater as your top off and just keep testing after you do, this way it raises it slowly over a couple days.

1.026~1.027 measured with a refractometer or a hydrometer that's been calibrated appropriately.
Please check out this article: Water parameters (http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.htm)
I'd also suggest purchasing a book before going into this hobby - particularly if you're going into a 120. That's a lot of money to be spent with or without research.

post a new thread and I guarantee you'll get a bunch of responses on books.
I enjoyed reading The Reef Aquarium vol. 1 by Sprung/Delbeek but that's really not a "how to" "step by step" book. More about the hobby and environment. Still I liked it a lot.
There's another book people seem to promote a lot by the author Michael Paletta? I think it's called the New marine aquarium.
Good luck!
