After I spent about 2 weeks and $300 on containers, heaters and pumps to cure my live rock I put it in the tank yesterday.
I then determined that 350lbs is not enough.
So I went down and bought the last 90lbs the store had and it is not cured.
It is in the tank and I will finish filling the tank tonight (My RO unit only makes 90 gal a day)
My question is how long will it take the additional live rock to cure (I will have a skimmer now) and should I cover the tank to keep all light out?

Thanks
Bill

I wouldn't turn the lights off....I didn't when I cured my rock and had no negative results. I left the lights on a timer and let the skimmer go all the time and after five weeks was ready to go and put some life into the tank...slowly.

No real way to tell how long it will take.

Don't worry about room light .

Test your Ammonia every day. When it goes to 0 then test Nitrites until they go to 0...At that point test for Nitrates when you get to zero the real fun begins.

I won't have the lights until next week.
I'm debating wether to go with 4 250Watt or 4 400 watt.
I had the tank built 30" tall so I'm thinking I could go high on the watts on the MH
I'll also be using 4 96Watt Blue Atenic power compacts.

Anyone have any thoughts on going to 4 of the 400 watt?

Oh yeah I also have a 1/2 HP chiller/heater
