My Royal Gramma is building a nest, apparently. I was watching the tank for a bit today, when I noticed the Royal Gramma swoop down, tear off a piece of grape caulerpa stalk nearly as long as himself, and then drag it back into a nook in the rocks that I couldn't see. He swam back out without it, and as big as it is, I'm sure he didn't eat it... not in the little bit of time he was out of sight.

I haven't seen him do it again, but I really wonder if he's not doing this as some kind of normal mating behavior. It's really odd, since he's the only one of his kind in the tank, and there isn't even anything that resembles him either.

That is normal behavior, Black caps do this also. They like to hide thier nest if you will from others. I had a Black cap that did the samething I was clkeaning the tank and messed his cover up and he went nuts, biting coral, chasing other fish, you could tell he was po'ed. RG's are very cool fish good luck with him.
