I've got my PC coralife lights resting on eggcrate across my 20-long. It bows slightly, and I was wondering if anyone has had it crack on them or if they reinforce with anything. Thanks!

I just did the same thing with my new 250w MH. It's temporary until I build a new hood. I did cut the part out that is under the actual light. Just the edge of the pendant is supported by the egg crate.

It's only been this way for two weeks, so far no cracks.

I wouldnt want to trust it, think of how hot those PC's get. I would be scared of fire or the tank being electricuted. I would raise them up on something in mean time.

Yea, me too. Not worth the risk!

If those are MH's I wouldn't trust it for long either... Those things put out alot of heat... soon you might be looking at buying some more lights and risk electrocution.....

By the way.... those things always seem to happen when you're not at home....

I put my coralife light up on plastic legs that fit on the ends of the light kit and kind of hook onto the top lip of the tank. They were available at my LFS. You might want to look around for them - near the lights stuff.

You could lift those MH's by just running 2 lengths of PVC piping down the length of the tank and set the light on them, I suppose for a cheap quick fix..
