Anyone know any place in the bay area that sells sheets of glass for tank covers ? If you do, can they cut part of the glass for you?

PastTime Hardware (ACE) in El Cerrito has 1/16 inch thick glass for windows. They have different sizes (like 24"x12", etc) . You have to buy the available sizes, but they will custom cut it for free. I use their glass as the cover for my lights.

Someplace like Lowes or Home Depot typically have a glass cutting area where you can get them to cut to fit.

Lowes, Home Depot, any glass shop. Shouldn't be very expensive.

Look in the phone book for a glass company. You'll want the edges ground or sanded at least.

OSH Concord sells scrap glass from their scrap bin for $0.99 including cutting. I was lucky (twice) to get the right size to replace the cover of my 18g tall fuge which I repeatedly broke. Other OSH stores may have the same arrangement.
