I recently purchased a hang-on refugium for my reef tank and I want to place Chaetomorpha to help with nitrate export. My question is "Do I have to place seperate lighting on the refugium for this type of macroalgae or will the tank light be enough"? Anyone with a hang-on refugium, let me know. Thanks

Yea you should get some kind of lighting on it. Any kind will do really, I have an old florescent strip light on my HOB fuge.

I had an aquafuge and used a PC light over it. The tank lighting would not penetrate the whole refugium (mostly in regards to depth) nearly well enough.

I do believe you must have it's own source of light. :)
