I got 6 Astrea Snails from the LFS this weekend and I was wondering if there was a way to tell if the snails were still alive. Why I ask is that a few I haven't seen move at all and when I pick them up there little foot is tightly in. So I have no clue if they are alive. They are astrea snails. I am having an ammonia spike so I don't know if that is causing it. I have also added 2 fish a pink skunk clown and six line wrasse so that could be causing it too. So I am trying to find out if the snails are alive. I would have thought they would move a some point.

I think the cap will open if they die. Maybe they are self protecting themselves by closing up. I know if mine die, the bristleworms have them gone by morning.
