Picked up this anemone from my LFS and it came from the pacific ordered as a LTA but it is not an LTA. We tried a couple different books that had some of the more common anemones pictured but we couldnt seem to agree on an ID for this guy... its seems kinda bleached but i am feeding it and keeping it under 400w Halides so hopefully it turns around... now for a description.. it has branched and beaded tenctacles with a light base and purple spots under the oral disc and along the column. anyways pictures below
I do have close up of the tentacles and it shows some of the column and verrucae (i dont know for sure if thats what they are) but the picture is a little blurry and its large so i will just link to it here....

At a quick glance it looks like a fire anemone. I wouldn't accidently touch it until you get a positive ID.

I had an anemone very close to that that no one was able to get an exact id. Its in the tree anemone family which can have some brutal stings. Mine would sting me and its tentacles would be left in my skin, but fortunately I had no adverse reaction.

Also it does look bleached, I would be careful with those 400w. When I get home, I will list a pic of mine to show you.

Here is an old thread when I tried to get it identified and it has some pics. I should have some better pics at home.

If it is the same type, your are going to love this anomone, it is very cool. If i fed it food it didnt like it would turn over and let the food roll out and then turn up back to the light.

Unfortunatly mine died. I had a motor rupture and it wipped out my entire tank. But I did enjoy it for over a year.

I would research along these lines... Actinodendron sp and Megalactis hemprichii aka Hell's fire anemone and tree anemone.

hrm...my anemone doesnt seem to look like any of the ones pictured... it doesnt have the branching of the disc like the tree anemones and i have touched it without feeling any stinging at all and the tentacles dont seem to be as fine as the last pics shown... anyone have any links to actinodendron

You cant tell from my pictures, but my anemone's tenticle structure is exactly like your's gaidin. I just dont have a good enough pic to demonstrate that. The main difference is color. It is very possible that we have the same type of anemone but your might be bleached.

I agree with criccio- search along the lines of Actinodendron.
