How big of a hole should be drilled in the canopy for the fan? I'm assuming the fan part is 4"; the stuff around it is more. So I think I should drill 4" holes. Here is a link: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=273-238
Thanks, LMK

You know,, just to be safe, wait untill you get the fan before you cut the hole.

I agree.I'm running the same fans(I can't get to them to measure without taking the canopy off).I do know that you don't have much room for error when you cut the holes out, because the screw holes are pretty close to the edges. Also depending on how thick the wood is,you may have to hunt around Home depot to get small enough diameter, but long enough threaded bolts to fit the screw holes.HTH.

i use two of them the ac ones, i used a 4in hole saw bit got at home depot, tried it on a test sample first to make sure it would work, make sure you get the bit that cuts out a four in hole, out side demensions of the bit, not hole of 4in plus cut part. it is close enough, if you go anybigger it will show..

Ok that is a good idea to get the fans first. I just have to email my cousin who is building the canopy for me the plans, and I wanted everything done. I'll see when I can get to RadioShack.

$20 for a 4" 12v fan seems high as all get out. Ebay has tons for $1 plus $3 or less for shipping. If you are going to pay $20 you can get some super quite fan like http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42002&item=6744297654&rd=1 or spend a little more and get a 120v one that moves 4x the air. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43555&item=4358703350&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
