I just got my 250w 20k XM MH pendant that is 8 inches from the water of my 30 gallon. When i get home from school i check my thermometer and it reads like 83-84. At night it is 78-79. That is a huge temp flux that my corals cant handle...how do i get this down on my 30 gallon.
Someone please help soon because i gatta go to sleep
Thanks!

250 MH for a 30g? That's a lot of lighting for such a size tank isn't it? (that's really a question, I'm not sure) Maybe you could try raising the light even higher from the tank like maybe raise it 12-15 inches over the tank.

Okay thanks Marinelife, thats what i was thinking.

staticxtreme- 250MH for a 30g is not that much. Actually i think that it a perfect amount, becuase i plan on keeping SPS and clams when my tank stabalizes.

a fan across the top of the water should lower it by a couple of degrees. Let us know by how much.

Raise your pendant up some...a couple of inches anyway....

And put the fan on the same timer as your MH, so the temp doesn't change a lot at night.
