Considering the forum, you can probably guess that it's scuba related.

I've wanted to dive since I was in fifth grade -- going to college next year for marine biology, and I still figured it would be a good skill to have. Well, FINALLY, I'm going to take a class and get certified!

WHOOHOOOO!!!!

Parents said they'd cover the basics, which is good, because my reef tank has made me poor. I want to own as much as I can, because this is definately not just a passing thing. :) For the same reason, I don't want to buy crap that won't last me (like the damned Lee's protein skimmer I started out with...).

Any tips? :D

start by owning your own BCD, mask, fins and regulator. After you save some money, get yourself a nice computer and tank if you want. I personally dont own a tank cause they are too heavy to transport around (same for weights) and rentals are pretty inexpensive.
I like ScubaPro products, but there are tons of brands out there. Get yourself a magazine and start looking :)

I actually might be able to get a friend's old BC for next to nothing. Now, wouldn't that be nice? :D
