Spacing

I was wondering what the spacing should be between hard and soft corals. I resently bought some xenia and candy coral and want to know what placement should be.

Thats tough to say.Xenia will spread rapidly in a tank under its ideal conditions.I like to keep Xenia isolated from the aquascape so i can control its growth.Letting it attach and climb the glass is an easy way to keep it from taking over.

Thats also tough to say,they can grow rapidly in higher nutrient conditions but some have had trouble getting them to acclimate to their tanks.If you get some that have been established from a local reefer,your chances of success are much greater.I've kept 2 different varieties in 2 totally different systems.One variety(elongata) did great in one system(mod-high flow/moderate nutrients) but the other(pom-pom) did better in my other tank(low-mod flow/high nutrients).Just goes to show they can be unpredictable.
