Another Mr. Calfo question, after reading the article!

how about the best pump for a smaller tank (40 gallon) as an closed loop? (1" Hole Drilled for loop by the way) Do you trust cheaper mags, quiet ones? Or is it better to spring for more top shelf external Velocity, Iwaki???

Hey Zac, I've read Anthony recommend Iwaki countless times in this forum as a dependable and long lived pump. :)

As for Mag pumps, I have one on my closed loop. The Mag7 was dreadful, leaked if not sealed properly, and ran way to hot. The 9.5 is working very well for me right now. Looking back I think I would have gone with the Iwaki from the start and might change it in a year or so. I've also read that any Mag below 7 as a CL pump is worthless and die out much quicker.
